Summary:

For the number theory conference, I ran a workshop on mathematical drawing. I introduced cusps and folds, and taught people about crosshatching. Afterwards, we drew topological critters.

Part of Drawing Club at the IHP trimester in illustrating mathematics.

a collection of genus 2 surfaces of all sizes, drawn on small squares of paper
Genus 2 surfaces

What does a genus 2 surface look like? I each participant submit one. There are many of the standard double tori, but also many different shapes. There are, geometrically, many different genus 2 surfaces.

I didn’t have time to make a nice worksheet this week. But, here’s my notes about what I was planning on doing. Maybe they’re even readable
